ZRDC Successfully Concluded Innovation Day 2026 Under “Innovation 360”
The Zambia Research and Development Centre (ZRDC) successfully concluded Innovation Day 2026, a two-day event held on 14th and 15th May 2026 under the theme “Innovation 360.” The event brought together students, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to showcase innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Serah Mbetwa, Vice Chancellor of the Information and Communications University (ICU), who emphasized that innovation begins with curiosity and grows through collaboration. She encouraged innovators to think boldly, experiment responsibly, and develop solutions that respond to real societal needs.
ZRDC Programs Manager Mr. Knox Shamineke Kasongo highlighted the institution’s growing role in supporting innovation through platforms such as the GSTIC network, participation in the 11th Multinational Forum in the United States, collaboration with ICU on Artisanal Mining Classes, and involvement with the National Science Centre. He also previewed the upcoming IMDC 2026 platform as an important opportunity for researchers and innovators.
On the final day, ZRDC representative Mr. Castrol Lisole emphasized the importance of innovation in driving sustainable development and promoting practical solutions through research and technology. He noted that Innovation 360 provided a strong platform for young innovators to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and collaborate across different fields.
Innovation Day 2026 was described as a celebration of creativity, resilience, and innovation, reaffirming ZRDC’s commitment to supporting research, youth innovation, and transformative ideas for national development.
